Can we talk about the 0.001 inch tolerance claim on a $2,400 hobby mill?
I was reading a spec sheet for a benchtop mill last week and it said 0.001 inch repeatability, which seemed too good for the price. Then I found a test report from a guy in Ohio who measured 0.004 inch backlash on the same model after 3 months of cutting aluminum. That gap between the marketing number and real shop use is what gets new guys in trouble. What specs do you actually trust on a machine before you buy it?
