A simple change to my profile pictures got me way better matches
For about three months, I only had one clear headshot and a couple blurry group photos. I got maybe one match a week, and they rarely replied. Last month, I swapped in three new pictures: one of me hiking at Red Rock Canyon, one smiling with my dog, and a clear full-body shot in normal clothes. In the two weeks since, I've matched with eight people who actually start conversations. The difference was showing what I actually do and look like, not just a face. Has anyone else seen a big jump from fixing their photos?

That's actually a pretty normal match rate for most guys.

Read a study that said men swipe right way more often than women, so their match rate looks lower. It showed men might get a match on like 1-2% of their swipes on average. Makes sense if guys are just swiping on everyone and women are more picky.

Yeah and that 1-2% is only the start. Most of those matches never send a message, or the chat dies fast. So the real number of actual conversations is way lower, like a fraction of that already tiny percent. It just turns the whole thing into a numbers game for guys.

Yeah I mean the numbers are rough if you look at it that way. I was in the same boat for a while and honestly what turned it around for me was just treating it more like a real life conversation instead of a game. I stopped swiping on everyone and focused on profiles where I actually had something to say, even if it was just a quick joke about their dog or something. The matches slowed down but the ones I got actually led to a message exchange most of the time instead of just sitting there. It takes more work but feels way less like you're just throwing stuff at a wall and hoping.
