Fitness photos always got my attention, but a recent meetup made me rethink.

I always believed profiles with workout photos meant someone was disciplined and healthy. Then I went out with a guy who only talked about his protein shakes and rep counts. He even commented on my snack choice, calling it off plan. The whole date felt like a fitness check instead of a conversation. Now I see that focusing too much on physical health can hide poor social skills. I avoid profiles that are all gym with no other hobbies. It has improved my matches a lot.

Obsession with anything usually means something else is missing.

Honestly that "something is missing" take feels way too simple. People can just be super into stuff without it being a problem. My buddy collects old video games and it's not about filling a hole, he just loves the history and the hunt. Calling every hobby an obsession kinda ruins the fun of being really into something. Sometimes a deep interest is just that.

But what do you think they're trying to make up for?
