Hot take: I don't think you should always unmatch after a bad first date. I went on one last month where the guy spent the whole dinner at a place in Cincinnati talking about his ex-wife's cat. It was a solid 90 minutes of cat custody drama. I just sat there, ate my burger, and said 'uh huh' a lot. I didn't unmatch him after. I just left the chat there, dead and quiet, as a little monument to a weird Tuesday night. Anyone else just let the awkward matches fade instead of formally closing them out?

Honestly, I do the same thing, it feels less dramatic than a formal unmatch.

Less dramatic than a formal unmatch" is a great way to put it. It's like quietly slipping out the back door of a party instead of making a big speech about leaving. Honestly, the app should just have a button that sends a little cartoon ghost emoji, so at least people get the message.

Ghosting just leaves people hanging, @marydavis.
