Hot take: Using gym selfies from 2015 is just setting up for awkwardness
I've noticed a trend where guys post these super old gym pics... like from years ago when they were in way better shape. Went on a date last Friday and the guy's profile had him all muscular... but when we met, he looked totally different. He ordered a huge burger and joked about how he 'used to' care about fitness... it was so uncomfortable. I didn't know what to say... just smiled and nodded a lot. It feels like a waste of time for both of us... why not just show what you really look like now? I get wanting to put your best foot forward, but this is just misleading. Maybe we should all agree to update our pics every year or something... what do you think?

My worst one was a date with a guy named Mark who had a profile pic from a beach trip in 2016 where he was totally ripped. When he showed up, he had clearly gained like fifty pounds (and I'm not judging, but come on). He spent the whole dinner talking about his 'glory days' of lifting weights, and it was so cringe. I just kept sipping my water and waiting for it to end. It's such a waste of time when people don't use current photos.

Honestly, calling it a waste of time seems harsh lol. Maybe Mark still sees himself as that person from 2016, and the photo is part of who he is. People change, but old pics can show what they're proud of, not just how they look now. He might be holding onto those glory days because they're big for him, and sharing that on a date is trying to connect. Sure, it's awkward, but dating is about seeing past the surface sometimes. Not everyone has the guts to post current photos, and that doesn't make them liars.

Ugh but that's still catfishing.

Some guys keep old gym pics because they're still proud of that time. It's not about hiding, it's about remembering.
