Matched with a girl from Bumble who said her favorite place was a coffee shop in Austin called Mozart's. We met there and she spent the whole date on a video call with her mom, showing her the menu and asking what she wanted to order.

She literally held her phone up to show her mom every pastry in the case. I sat there for 45 minutes while she narrated my appearance and the weather to her mom. I learned that if someone's profile is all about family, maybe ask how they handle a first date. Has anyone else had a date where you felt like a third wheel to their family?

Okay but did she at least get her mom's order right? Like did you have to sit through a whole second round of this when the food actually came? I'm trying to picture the logistics of her holding a latte up to the camera for approval.

God can you imagine the phone call after? Like "mom the barista says the foam art is a little lopsided today, is that a dealbreaker?" I mean I've seen people take pictures of their food but a whole live inspection feels next level. Idk maybe it's just me but at some point you gotta trust the cafe to make a sandwich.

The latte was the easy part. She actually sent a video of the sandwich being unwrapped at the table, asking if the avocado looked ripe enough. I heard her mom say the bread was wrong, so they had to send it back.
