Matched with a guy who said he was a pilot, but his 'plane' was a flight simulator in his mom's basement

This was last month on Hinge. He sent a picture of him in a captain's hat, so I asked about his routes. He said he flew 'international,' but got nervous when I asked which airline. After two dates, he finally admitted he was a grocery store clerk and the 'cockpit' photos were from a $300 game setup. He said, 'It's basically the same thing, right?' Has anyone else had someone lie about their whole job?

That's a wild level of commitment to a lie. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Man that's rough. People really do go all in on the wildest stuff sometimes, and it's crazy how long they can keep a lie going. You'd think they'd slip up at some point or just get tired of it. But I guess if someone is determined enough, they can drag anything out for years. Hope you're doing okay now though.

Wild level of commitment" is my middle name, but usually it's just for pretending I remember people's birthdays.
