Rant: Guy showed up to dinner with his ex sitting at the next table
I matched with a guy on Hinge and we agreed to meet at a taco place in Portland last Friday. About 10 minutes in, his ex walked in with a friend and sat at the table right next to us. He didn't tell me ahead of time she might be there, just acted normal and ordered another round. I asked if he planned this and he said no, but then he kept glancing over at her every 2 minutes. I paid for my tacos and left before the check came. Has anyone else had a date bring an uninvited guest to the table?

Gotta play devil's advocate here. He might have just been shocked to see her and didn't know how to handle it.

Similar thing happened to me a few years back - my date's ex walked into the bar we were at and sat at the bar like 10 feet away. I just straight up asked my date "hey, is this going to be weird?" and when he said no I just rolled with it. We ended up ignoring her completely and having a fun night. He probably was just as caught off guard as you were and froze up. Next time try saying something like "wanna move to that booth in the back?" - it gives you both an out without the drama.
1
