Shoutout to my buddy's blind date story from 2006

I was grabbing coffee this morning and overheard two girls laughing about a Tinder date where the guy showed up in full camo. Made me think back to when my buddy Dave met his wife through a dating site back in 2006. You had to write actual paragraphs about yourself and wait for emails to load on dial up. Has anyone else noticed dating totally lost that slow burn feeling?

That specific 2006 thing you mention is interesting. So when people say they miss the slow burn, are they really just nostalgic for the pain of waiting for a page to load, or the tension of not knowing if someone liked you for three days? It feels like a lot of that old school "mystery" was just forced by bad technology, not actual romantic chemistry. Did your friend Dave ever talk about how frustrating it was to write those long paragraphs only to get a two word reply a week later?

Whoa, hold on there. I mean yeah, it's cool that Dave and his wife had that whole dial up slow burn thing, but people act like dating was this magical golden age or something. It was just different, not necessarily better. You could still write paragraphs and get ghosted even back then, it just took longer to find out. People love to complain about how fast everything is now, but nobody's forcing them to swipe like crazy. You can still take it slow if you actually want to.
