Swiped right on a girl who had 'pasta lover' in her bio and it turned into a 3 hour first date
So I got sick of the same old boring convos on Hinge where it's just 'hey how was your day' for 2 weeks straight. I started looking for profiles that had something really specific I could work with, not just generic stuff like 'I love hiking'. This one girl said she could eat pasta every day so I asked her what her go-to sauce was and if she judged people who put ketchup on spaghetti. She laughed and we ended up talking on the app for like 20 minutes about the best noodle shapes. Met up at this Italian place in Philly last Saturday and we sat there until they closed at 10pm. The trick was finding one tiny detail in her profile and turning it into a joke or a question that showed I actually read it. Anyone else find that picking something super random from their bio works way better than a generic opener?

Pasta lover" is such a dangerous bio to have. Because now you're committed to the theory that spaghetti shapes are a legitimate personality test. Imagine if the first date went bad and you ended up trapped with 3 hours of her trying to convince you that angel hair is better than fettuccine. That's not a date, that's a hostage situation. But honestly, ketchup on spaghetti is a crime against humanity and anyone who defends it should be on a list. You lucked out.

Went on a date once where she tried to convince me spaghetti with ranch dressing was "underrated," so I feel your pain man.

Oh man, @blair_nguyen's right but did she actually eat the spaghetti with ranch right there in front of you?
