That woman who asked me for Venmo before our first coffee date
I matched with someone from Aurora last month who spent 45 minutes texting me about her landscaping business and then asked me to send her $20 for gas before she'd agree to meet at a Starbucks, and I still wonder if that's a new form of dating app scam or just someone being aggressively practical.

Asked me to send her $20 for gas before she'd agree to meet at a Starbucks" is wild. I feel you, that's a new level of upfront I don't think I'm ready for. If she needs gas money just to sit down with you, what's she gonna ask for on the second date, a tire rotation? Honestly though, I think some people are just treating dating apps like a side hustle now. It's a shame cause it makes it harder to tell who's actually interested and who's just trying to get their bills paid through you. Hope your next match doesn't come with a Venmo request attached.

Feel you on this one man... it's rough out there when you're just trying to meet someone and it turns into a transaction before you even shake hands. Kinda makes you wonder if some people are just copy-pasting the same request to all their matches and seeing who bites. Hope you find someone who actually wants to grab coffee, not just your cash.

My sister tried online dating last year. First guy she matched with asked her to send him $50 for a new phone charger before their date. Said his was broken and he needed it for work the next day. She laughed and unmatched him. Then her next match asked if she could cover his Uber to the restaurant cause his car was in the shop. It's like these people don't even try to be subtle about it anymore. At least the gas money girl was honest about her intentions upfront.
