Vent: Dude showed up 30 minutes late with his mom for our first date at a diner

Met this guy on Hinge and we agreed on 7pm at Mel's Diner in Seattle, but he rolled in at 7:30 with his mom and said she wanted to 'vet me.' I finished my milkshake and walked out, has anyone else dealt with a parent crashing a date?

Did she actually sit down and start grilling you, or was she just standing there awkwardly while you processed the situation?

Man, I froze up so bad I could've been a statue in a museum. She sat down, crossed her arms, and asked "what's your problem with me?" while I just stood there trying to remember how words work. I think she assumed I was doing some deep thinking, but really my brain was just buffering the whole time.
