Finally caved and tried Google Ads after years of saying they were a scam

I ran a local landscaping business in Austin and swore organic reach was the only way to go. Last month I lost 3 big jobs to a competitor who just kept popping up at the top of search results. Anybody else have a moment where paid ads actually paid off when they thought they wouldn't?

My buddy runs a small auto shop in San Antonio and bitched about Google Ads for years. He finally tried it when business got slow, and within two weeks he booked out his whole schedule. Now he calls me every month bragging about his ROI.

Holy crap, that's exactly what I keep telling people about Google Ads. @drew_jones31 your buddy's story is textbook - the people who hate on it the hardest are usually the ones who never set it up right or gave it a real chance. Most small shop owners think they can just throw money at it and magic happens overnight, but the truth is you gotta tweak your targeting and keywords for like a week before it clicks. Once it does though, it's insane how fast the leads roll in. I've seen barbershops and plumbers go from dead quiet to turning away customers in under a month when they actually learn the basics.

And once you tweak those keywords, the leads just keep coming without any extra work.
