Got 300 email signups from a single blog post and everyone missed the real story
I wrote a 1200 word post about how I fixed a broken Shopify checkout flow and it got picked up by a small newsletter. Within 48 hours I had 300 new subscribers just from that one article. The surprising part is that the post had zero calls to action for the email list. I just mentioned at the bottom that I share more fixes in my newsletter. Everyone in my group keeps telling me to focus on Instagram Reels or TikTok for growth. But this one plain text blog post did more for my email list than three months of social media videos ever did. Has anyone else seen better results from older style content like written guides or case studies?

300 signups is decent but call me when it actually converts into sales or opens. Is that blog post really a growth strategy or just a one off lucky break?

Forget @logan_mitchell's point (opens matter), but that 300 is a signal you found the right audience, not just a lucky hit.

Nah, I gotta disagree with you there. 300 real signups from a single post with zero hard sell is a solid result, not a fluke. Most people are drowning in noise from short form video and never build a list at all. A plain text post that actually solves a problem is way more valuable than a viral reel that gets views but no emails. If those 300 people signed up willingly without being begged, they're way more likely to open the next email than someone who clicked a popup ad.
