Just realized that advice about 'post every day' actually hurt my engagement

My buddy Mike from a local meetup kept telling me I needed to post every single day on Instagram to grow my account. I tried it for 3 months straight and my engagement actually dropped by 40%. Turns out I was just flooding my feed with low effort content and people got annoyed. Has anyone else seen this happen or was it just me messing up the execution?

Oh man, right? That's exactly what happened to me. I tried posting like four times a day for a week and people started dropping off fast. I guess nobody wants to see the same person clogging up their feed all the time. It's like they just hit mute on your profile instead of unfollowing so you don't even realize it at first. Really made me rethink how often I post.

Isn't that the worst feeling though? I had the exact same thing happen - thought I was killing it with daily posts until I checked my analytics and saw my reach had totally tanked. It's brutal finding out people would rather silence you than just tell you to chill out.
