Honestly, a runway show in Milan totally flipped my view on 'wearable' tech fabrics.

One designer had jackets that changed color with body heat, but another's line was just stiff and weird. Has anyone else seen tech that actually works for normal clothes?

My entire wardrobe from 2010 was basically shiny plastic bags. I bought a "smart" shirt once that was supposed to track my posture. It just beeped at me randomly in the grocery store until I threw it in a drawer. The good stuff now just feels like a nice shirt that also happens to dry in five minutes.

That Milan show sounds about right. Most of it is gimmicky, but some heat reactive stuff can be subtle. The good tech just feels like a better fabric, not a costume.

Honestly I love the gimmicky stuff too though! It's fun when fashion feels like a toy. Like graceowens' beeping shirt sounds kind of amazing to me, I'd wear it.

Remember that phase with all the crinkly silver jackets? I found a pair of running tights that actually wick sweat and dry fast without feeling like plastic wrap. The trick is finding the tech that solves a real problem, not just looks flashy.
