Sketching on my iPad versus real paper for initial designs
I kept using my iPad for quick fashion sketches, but the lines felt too slick and perfect. Switched back to a cheap 50 cent newsprint pad and a 2B pencil, and the rough, messy lines actually sparked way more creative ideas for draping and texture. Anyone else find that digital tools can make your first drafts feel too stiff?

My old Samsung tablet with a stylus made my thumbnail concepts look like boring blueprints. I switched to a three dollar pack of crayola markers on butcher paper, and suddenly my ideas got loose and weird in the best way. That little bit of drag and the way the colors bleed forces a different kind of thinking. Digital just gives you this dead, frictionless line that kills the early magic.

Three dollar pack of crayola markers? That's the real shocker here.

Grab whatever feels right and go with it. Cheap markers can be a lifesaver when you're just trying to get ideas out.
