Vent: My brother said my designs look like costumes, not clothes

I was showing him my new jacket sketch with the big shoulders and metal clasps. He just looked at it and said, "That's cool for a movie, but who would wear it to the store?" It hit different because he's usually quiet about my work. Made me wonder if I'm designing for a runway or for actual people. Do you think a design has to be wearable to be good?

Ever see those crazy outfits from the 80s that look like Halloween now but were just normal clothes back then? Makes you wonder who decides what's a costume and what's fashion. Your brother might just not get it yet, or maybe your stuff is ahead of its time. Sometimes the best designs are the ones that make people stop and stare, even if they wouldn't wear it to the grocery store.

Just keep wearing what you love, the haters will catch up later.
