Shoutout to my fermentation jar that leaked everywhere

I was fermenting sauerkraut and the lid didn't seal right. How do you keep your setups from leaking?

Wait, cloth covers let in air and can actually ruin kimchi's fermentation.

Dealt with a similar mess when my homemade sauerkraut overflowed last month. In my experience, that's just part of the process, like @lucash53 said about putting everything on a big plate. You kinda learn to expect it after a while, but it still catches you off guard sometimes.

That whole "learn to expect it" line sounds like giving up. If your food keeps making a mess, maybe you're just doing it wrong.

Honestly fermentation feels like the universe's way of teaching patience. My sourdough starter bubbled over last week, my kimchi seeped through its cloth cover. It's this constant low grade mess that reminds you nothing is fully under control. You just learn to put everything on a big plate and laugh when it happens again. The real skill isn't stopping the leak, it's not getting mad about it.
