Warning: My early sauerkraut failure pushed me toward airlocks.
Back in the day, I thought open fermentation was enough.

Honestly, people have been fermenting stuff safely for centuries without special gear. A clean jar and regular checking usually does the trick just fine. It feels like we sometimes overcomplicate perfectly simple kitchen tasks.

Oh man, I've grown enough fuzzy science experiments to start my own mold museum. Airlocks saved my kitchen from turning into a lab.

Lol that's so real. I read somewhere that most kitchen mold hides in places you never check, like under the fridge drip pan or inside the rubber seals of small appliances. The article said cleaning your fridge's condenser coils can actually cut down on mold spores floating around. Makes me want to go on a deep-clean spree.
