Why does nobody talk about the joy of a bubbly ginger bug?
I began fermenting a ginger bug for soda at home last week. It finally showed activity today with lots of bubbles. The tangy scent is so satisfying.

Actually, I was pretty doubtful too until my ginger bug started bubbling last week. That tangy scent, sharp and sweet, totally changed my mind. @dylan_owens is onto something with the fermentation heaven thing, because seeing it alive like that is cool. And the soda it makes has a real kick, way better than anything you can buy.

Honestly, all this fuss over a jar of fizzy ginger sounds pretty wild. You're treating those bubbles like some kind of kitchen miracle. Ngl, it reminds me of that time I left a soda in my truck too long and it blew up sticky everywhere. Tbh, I'd be nervous that thing is gonna pop and smell up the whole house. But I guess if you enjoy the tangy scent, that's your business. Just maybe keep it away from the good towels.

Read an article that said burping the jar every day keeps it from turning into a sticky bomb. It's really not the same as a forgotten soda can. That ginger beer needs to let the gas out so it doesn't build up. Once you get the routine down, it's pretty chill. The smell is actually kind of nice, like sharp and sweet at the same time.
