I was looking up old safety reports and saw a stat about molten metal splashes

I mean, I knew they were bad, but a study from the University of Alabama in 2019 said that over 70% of foundry splash injuries happen during the first pour of a shift. It's like your focus isn't fully there yet or something. Has anyone else noticed a pattern like that in their shop?

Wait, over 70% on the first pour? That's a crazy high number. It makes sense though, you're still waking up or maybe rushing to get started. Do they say if it's more about being tired or just not in the groove yet?

Oh man, that first pour is always the worst for me too. I started doing a quick practice pour with just water into a spare cup right before the real thing. It gets my wrist moving and my brain focused. Cuts those early mistakes way down, honestly.

Ever try what @jadej50 said about being tired?
