Question about a weird core box count from a big pour

We just finished a massive order for a municipal pump housing in Cincinnati, and my team packed 1,847 core boxes for the single pour. I've never seen a count that high for one casting before, and it really drove home how complex the internal geometry was. Has anyone else had a job where the core box number just seemed unreal?

Wow, that number is wild. A pump housing makes total sense for that kind of count though. We did a huge valve body a few years back that needed over a thousand boxes. The core room looked like a weird city skyline, just stacks of them everywhere. It's a special kind of chaos when you're dealing with that many pieces for one mold.

Imagine the shipping cost for all those boxes alone.

Oh man, @aaron740, that "weird city skyline" line is so perfect. My cousin works in a warehouse and the photos from their big holiday push look EXACTLY like that, just endless walls of boxes. It's a whole different world.

Yeah but like @taraross said, the shipping is the real nightmare. That many boxes just sounds like a paperwork headache more than anything.
