Remember when the old Ajax furnace at the Trenton plant finally gave out?
I was on the floor for the last pour in 2012, and the whole crucible lift system seized up halfway through. We had to shut down for three days while they brought in a whole new electric induction unit. That was the push our shop needed to finally phase out all the old gas-fired gear. The new setup cut our scrap rate by almost 15 percent right away. Anyone else have a piece of equipment fail that forced a big upgrade?

It's like my old truck forcing me to go electric.

Wait, your truck is forcing you? Did it start refusing to start unless you plug it in? That's a new level of car rebellion. My old beater just guzzles gas and makes sad noises.

Yeah, my old truck's version of "forcing an upgrade" was just rusting out the entire bed floor. It wasn't a smart electric rebellion like @ivanbell joked about, it was just quietly turning into a colander. The final push was when my toolbox fell through it onto the driveway. That failure didn't get me fancy new tech, just a huge bill for a patch job that probably cost more than the truck was worth.
