Shoutout to the guy who caught my crucible slip before it tipped

Yesterday at the old Midtown foundry, I was pouring a 200 pound bronze batch and my tongs slipped on the wet floor. A new guy named Ray saw it wobble and grabbed the chain hoist to steady it before it went over. What's the best way you've seen to keep the floor dry around the pouring area?

Man that's a close call, glad Ray was on it. But honestly, why was the floor wet to begin with? Were you guys using water to cool something nearby or was it just condensation from the heat? Seems like fixing the source of the water would be step one before we even talk about mats or absorbents.

We had a leaky valve on the chiller line. Ray just tightened the packing nut and wiped up the spill.

Totally agree about finding the source first... we had a mystery puddle for weeks that turned out to be a slow drip from an overhead pipe. Just wiping it up every time was such a waste of effort.
