The new guy keeps leaving the ladle on the lip of the furnace
It's a basic thing, but that steel handle gets red hot and it's a trip hazard for everyone on the floor. I had to grab it with my tongs yesterday before someone walked into it. How do you get people to remember the simple stuff?

Honestly, just let him grab it bare handed once. I mean, not really, but that's the kind of lesson that sticks. You told him, right? If he keeps doing it after a warning, he needs to be the one who has to stop and cool it down every single time. Make it his problem to fix until the habit breaks. It's pure laziness and not thinking about the crew.

I learned that lesson with a sheet pan fresh from the oven. My fingerprints are still a little different.

It's the same reason people leave empty milk cartons in the fridge. There's a basic lack of consideration for the next person who has to deal with it. You see it everywhere, from shared kitchens to public restrooms. The mindset is always "my part is done" without a thought for the cleanup or the hazard left behind.
