Update: I finally figured out why my core box was sticking every single pour
Last month in the middle of a big run of gray iron castings, I realized the issue was the damn humidity in the shop. My old binder mix was fine in winter, but the summer air was messing with the curing. Anyone else have to switch up their sand mix seasonally?

Honestly, that humidity fight is the worst. Had to swap to a faster curing binder last summer for the same reason. Tbh it was a pain to dial in the new mix ratios but it stopped the sticking cold. Makes you wonder how the old timers dealt with this stuff without modern gear.

Yeah, the part about the old timers knowing their shops is so true. I mean, a buddy of mine runs a small foundry and he had this exact thing happen last spring. His core boxes just started grabbing out of nowhere. Took him like two weeks of pulling his hair out before he remembered his grandpa used to keep a dehumidifier running in the corner during the wet months. He tried it and it was like night and day. Idk, sometimes the old fixes are still right there.
