A conversation with my doctor put GMO foods in a new light for me

I've had ongoing digestive issues for years. During my last check up, my doctor brought up the topic of GMO foods. He said some patients report improvements when they cut them out. I decided to give it a try and bought only non GMO labeled items for a month. My symptoms did seem to lessen, but I'm not fully convinced. It could just be that I'm eating more whole foods in general. I'm torn between the health claim and the higher price tag. Has anyone here made a similar switch and noticed a real difference?

Watched my friend do the same non-GMO switch last year for her bloating. She bought all the labeled pasta, crackers, even that overpriced salsa. It did make her read labels more, so she ate less junk, like @jamie_webb67 said about the brain trick. In the end, she went back to regular quinoa because her stomach felt the same and her budget was shot.

My local grocery store has those "Non-GMO Project" labels on everything from apples to bottled water now (seriously, water?). I tried that switch once and my wallet felt the difference way more than my gut did. Part of me wonders if just paying more for food tricks your brain into feeling better.

Non-GMO water costs extra for molecules that never existed.

Got to jump in here because that water thing always gets me. Non-GMO water is a total scam since there's no such thing as genetically modified water to begin with. It's just a label they slap on to make you pay more for the exact same stuff. The whole project puts its seal on things that can't even be GMO, which really muddies the waters for actual useful labels. Makes it harder to trust any of it when they're marking up basic necessities with fake science.
