Story time: My calm therapy session got hijacked by a zoomie pup
Was having a blah day and booked a quiet animal therapy visit. They brought out this tiny, hyper puppy instead of the mellow dog I asked for. This little guy immediately started sprinting around the room, barking at a wall. He jumped on my lap and sent my snack flying across the floor. I couldn't help but crack up, it was so absurd. That silly mix-up honestly cheered me up more than anything else that week. Sometimes a funny fail is exactly what you need.

Calling that a "funny fail" seems off since it clearly worked.

Isn't the whole idea of a funny fail about the messy process, not just the end result? Like @wrenn35, I get that it worked, but sometimes the win itself is clumsy. Think about someone tripping up the stairs but still reaching the top, or a chef dropping an egg into the bowl from three feet up and making it in. It succeeded, but in such a janky way that the "fail" part is what makes it worth watching. The label fits because the focus is on the awkward journey, not just the fact it arrived.

Kevin's three-foot egg drop example is totally unrealistic, lmao.

Yeah, "clearly worked" but the mess is the funny part.
